In this Ongoing class, we will play fun games to strengthen your child's critical thinking, memory, concentration, and focusing skills while also giving them memorization strategies and building strategies.
Class experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 2
In this class, we will enjoy a brief icebreaker or sharing activity, then engage in a game that will challenge your learner's memory, focus, and thinking. When relevant, I will also teach strategies to increase these skills, and thus your learner's confidence. This class has been modified from the original ages 8-10 version to suit the minds of early elementary students. No writing or reading is needed in this class, though there may be a few times when being able to recognize English letters...
This class is taught in English.
Students will increase memory, attention, focus, concentration, visual and auditory recognition, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, positive social skills, and sportsmanship.
I am a mental health professional with a degree in psychology and many years of work with children. I enjoy playing games that are both fun and beneficial to a child's brain development to support healthy growth.
For our "What Changed" game Learners may have items to change their appearance if they'd like (this is not mandatory). Ideas would be a scarf, hat, jewelry, coat, and/or glasses. They will have an opportunity to go off-camera briefly, change some things, then return and let us guess what is different about them. Learners will need a safe space to move during our "Dual Tasks" and "The No Go" Games, as these are partly physical activities combined with our thinking brains. "Memory Draw" will require your Learner to have several sheets of regular blank (lined is fine, too) paper and something with basic colors to draw with (crayons, markers, or colored pencils).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
