It's exciting for me to teach 3 types of classes to K- 4 students on Outschool (reading, science, and math) because I love teaching each of these subjects so much! I am a certified reading specialist with a Masters Degree in reading, and have taught in a variety of capacities in public schools. These include kindergarten, first grade, second grade, college reading courses at Chapman University, many years as a School Reading Specialist, and mentor teacher for my former school district. I am now retired, but I just couldn't stop teaching. Every time I saw that school bus heading down the street, my heart would flutter. So I took my teaching online when I discovered Outschool! One of my unique passions is teaching children about how their amazing brain works. Because of my huge curiosity, fascination and a great deal of self study, I am able to answer common questions kids have about their brain in a fun and interactive way that makes sense to them. Each Brain Warrior class is designed to help children understand the science of their brain and the things they can do to make their brain stronger. Because we actually have more control over our brain than we think! And finally, I have recently discovered how much I LOVE writing and creating children's stories using graphic design elements. Having read so many wonderful children's stories aloud in my classroom for 34 years it was finally time to create my own! The stories I have written all have an "escape" element to them. And combining my stories with math strategies and exercise . . . the Brain Warriors Escape classes were born!
