Class Experience

In this ongoing class, students from our current class will be able to come together to have fun and socialize more. We will play more games, discuss what is important to them, and get to know each other in a comfortable and friendly environment. These students have asked for this class to be created, and it will be a private class for the students who have been in this group for over 18 months, and want to stay together more. All session content will be learner directed. We will likely be
discuss what they find interesting and making connections with a friend, talking about Roblox together and/or coding as this is a common thing they all enjoy. We will also be talking about languages, Japanese, family, school, and so much more. We truly will be seeing where our conversations lead us in each learner directed class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am so excited you are here. Allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Amy, and I am a teacher! I am a teacher who recognizes the gift in every child. I am often described as energetic, fun, engaging, worldly, loving, creative, and kind. I have 22 years of experience as a classroom music teacher. They have been dynamic! From infancy to IGCSE, International, Inner-City, Bilingual, and Suburban. From a Bachelor’s degree to a Master’s degree in Music Education, I have a large wealth of knowledge upon which to craft each online lesson.

I began my career teaching music in preschools across the USA, then I taught elementary school in West Africa, NY, Florida, and VA. No matter where I teach, I believe in creating a positive, student-centered community that promotes kindness, respect, diversity, and creativity. In my music room that means that children are actively making music, discussing ideas, asking questions, reflecting, and exploring the next discovery. A typical class is seen singing, moving, reading music, playing instruments, and listening to each other. I enjoy being with children, teaching them to become more open-minded, kind, and accepting through the incredible medium of music.

I prepare each lesson with a focus on individual learning styles which contain visual, aural, and kinesthetic experiences. Regardless of individual learning styles, each child has an opportunity to shine. I believe in my students. I believe in this world I call home. I believe that I can make a difference. I am a teacher!

A little more about me: I adore being Mom to an incredible daughter who is 13! I also spent 10 years traveling half of this world, and loved every moment. Life sure is an amazing journey! I enjoy experiencing different cultures, traveling, people-watching, essential oils, music, dancing, and philosophy. I also love making a difference in this world I call home, and work with 9 artists from Ghana, West Africa creating a bridge between our cultures.

So, here’s to our next adventure… I can’t wait to meet you!
