Beginner Level
Braille: An Introduction to braille eight-week class. Learning to read and write at the same time peers were learning print is the appropriate thing to do. I have taught Braille to others who had recently lost their sight or who were just beginning to learn to read. I am comfortable and knowledgeable about the subject and welcome all questions from students and parents. Students will learn the reading and writing of ABC braille and will know what cells are and how to coordinate the braille alphabet using an egg carton cup. I'm so happy to be here at Outschool with you. I believe education is a life-long endeavor. In everything I teach, there is something I learn. It is my firm belief that when information is given in a fun and interesting way, students are much more likely to find the learning process enjoyable and to remember their classes and the subjects taught far into the future. This is one of the reasons, we will use clay, a six-eggs carton cup to learn braille, and other didactic homemade material. I look forward to teaching and learning something new with you.
Learning Goals
Students will improved the ability to associate codes to letters and words.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Special Education
I began my teaching career as a substitute teacher in special education in 1997 as I was attending UCF (University of Central Florida) in Orlando, FL and earned my MA Degree in various exceptionalities. I added two additional Certifications: RESOL (reading and language arts) grades K-12. I currently obtained my braille certificate from UTN (North Technical University of Ecuador).
**I am very proud to be an Outschool employee for many years.** I taught various grade levels in public and private schools from age 4 years old up into university with our own girls and boys in gifted programs and magnet schools. I've earned "Highly Effective" in all areas and love teaching.
Over the years, I have volunteered for international online students of braille. I pride myself on searching for ways to accommodate and adjust as needed to learner styles. I enjoy assisting families in their education decisions. I am special needs sensitive.
