Attention: BOYS WHO LOVE MUSICAL THEATRE and BROADWAY! This class is designed especially for you! In this class, students will learn SEVEN songs from musical theatre repertoire written especially for boys! The EIGHTH class is an opportunity for students to present their songs for the others in the class - gaining valuable feedback! What to expect: - After a brief introduction/welcome, I will begin with teaching some of my favorite go-to vocal warmups to get students ready to use their...
Students will learn proper vocal technique, introduction to reading music, artistic expression (how to present the song and feel the melody), confidence while singing in front of peers, the context where each song takes place within the musical, and more!
I recommend practicing at least an hour total per week outside of class. Students should review the songs learned in the previous meeting for continuity.
I will provide sheet music and accompaniment recordings (if not available in the public domain on YouTube) for the students. Course cost includes sheet music .pdf
Mrs. Tomsic will provide a written assessment for each student at the end of the 8 week course.
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Students need to come to class in a quiet room free of distractions for the best possible sound quality and learning experience. Some of the musicals (in their complete context) may contain more mature thematic material. HOWEVER, the songs we study will be age appropriate and “clean.”
I may utilize YouTube (using screen share function on Zoom) to view professional clips of the songs.
