Class Experience

Did you know that yin yoga can reduce stress, improve mood, and help support self-confidence? Want to create and try a Green Goddess Smoothie? Or a Skin Smoothing Smoothie? In this class, students can learn and embrace healthy habits that will stay with them for life!

In this boutique health class specifically created for tweens and teens, we will practice and relax into gentle yin yoga poses with some peaceful calming guided meditation. Ms. Jodi will give a video each week and students can watch it and practice throughout the week as many times as they want to.

We will also create some healthy fruit and vegetable smoothies to enjoy after yoga. We will discuss the health benefits of the ingredients that we will use. All recipes are uniquely Ms. Jodi's own and developed from over 20 years of smoothie love! Ms. Jodi will post a separate smoothie video each week.

Students will be given an ingredient list each week. All ingredients are vegan/gluten free/dairy free and can be adapted for any food allergy. Students will need access to a blender/vitamix and should be familiar/supervised in the use of the blender as they create their smoothie.

Perfect for homeschool students who need health/movement time on your schedule or private/public school students who want to improve health/wellness and reduce stress throughout the week and/or on the weekends. This self-paced format allows students to access the videos whenever it is convenient for them even when traveling or in a different time zone.

My teaching style is supportive, encouraging, calming, and adapted to each unique student. I am available to answer questions by classroom chat. Students may also post photos of their smoothies to share with Ms. Jodi throughout the class. Students will also be prompted to share their own recipes with Ms. Jodi if they would like to!

Learning Needs
A highly visual and self-paced class for all types of neurodiverse learners. Helps learners to gain confidence and feel successful.
Parental Guidance
We will need to use a knife to cut (or parents can cut up ahead of time, if they are not comfortable with child handling the knife) up fruits and vegetables for the smoothies. We will also need to use a blender so please supervise this part as needed. Please also provide a yoga mat, water, and proper footwear (bare feet on a yoga mat is best). Also, please let me know of any food allergies/sensitivities so I can add an adaptation to the video post. I will use youtube and loom for my videos in this class.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from University of Phoenix
I am a Waldorf educator having worked as a school librarian and library/research subject teacher for 6 years with grades K-12 as faculty at a Waldorf school in rural Pennsylvania. I also worked as the first grade rest time teacher bringing calm and beautiful stories to this grade every day for many years. I have trained, been mentored by, and served along with some of the most experienced and dedicated Waldorf class and subject teachers in the world, some of whom have passed on and given me the greatest gift possible...to see their joy in teaching young souls. I also served as the reading coach for our school Reading Olympics team with over 40 students per year voluntarily coming to my library for an extracurricular where students were excited to read over 45 books a school year!

I have been offering comprehensive and affordable private lessons for Waldorf and other students around the world for several years. I also offer special Waldorf grades classes where students can connect with other students around the world. Our comfort with zoom now allows me to come to you no matter where in the world you may be! From day one, my students notice the improvement in their abilities and overall comprehension but parents especially note the change in their confidence. I get letters every day from parents telling me how much they see the confidence in their student improving after working with me. Each student has a unique learning style, and it’s my duty to find out what that is and adapt my lessons accordingly. Contact me today to find out how I can help you achieve your academic goals. As both a Waldorf former homeschooling mom and a teacher at a Waldorf school, I offer a unique experience to wherever your student may be-at home or at school-while needing extra lessons.

I have also taken private courses in archetypes for several years and studied the work of Carl Jung as a B.S. Psychology student. I am also a published writer in the Waldorf publication LILIPOH magazine. I lived on a Navajo reservation for several summers. I also have Masters classes in Library Science, Human Services, as well as diversity training. I ran a middle and high school library at the Waldorf school where I taught creative writing, library, and research classes for six years. I also worked in the Waldorf kindergarten and grades as an aftercare teacher.

I have also taught and tutored high school students on Outschool for over two years. I have practiced and taught yoga/meditation for years (teaching to both students and faculty). I am a certified Rapid Transformational Therapist and certified hypnotherapist. I have also taught yoga, meditation, and mindfulness classes on Outschool to students of many ages.

I live a mostly vegan, raw lifestyle and have over 20 years experience of making delicious smoothies with my Vitamix. I am excited to share these with my students!
