Botany + Art: The Life Cycle and Basic Parts of a Plant
Class experience
Students will explore the world of plants by creating a drawing/diagram and labeling the parts of a plant and the life cycle stages of a plant. We will take turns talking about our green friends and how they are similar and different to us! We will begin with an introduction and will then delve into this fun topic. I will also have real plants with me to show them real-life examples of the wide variety of shapes that plants come in. If you can, find a plant from your garden to take a picture...
Students will learn about the basic life cycle of a plant from seed to full grown. They will also learn about the main parts of a plant (leaf, stem, root, fruit, flower, seed) and what functions they serve in the plant's life and well-being.
Please have paper and pencils, crayons, or markers ready for your diagram! If you can bring in a plant from outside or have a picture of a plant with you, that would be great also. It can be a flower, a leaf, a branch, a weed from the garden, or a photo from a magazine or book.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
