Class Experience

**If you don't see a time that works for you, please let me know and I will schedule that time if possible**

In this botany course, children will learn all about plants through science, language arts, creative arts and geography!

In this holistic approach to learning about plants, children will come to understand how to identify plants, which kinds of plants exist and how they relate to other plants, animals and their environment.

The lesson takes a threefold approach:

Introduction and theme presentation
Discussion and exploration
Activity (either drawing of anatomy, diagrams, charts, writing, drawing)

The presentation is a Canva presentation. The teacher will share their screen and there is no need to click on any links.

WEEKLY ACTIVITY BOOKLET

To support the learning experience of the children, we share a beautiful, homemade activity booklet that the children can do at home. This is not needed in class. This is a PDF booklet and is uploaded in the classroom dashboard at the beginning of each week.

SCIENCE

Children will learn about the characteristics of plants as well as the anatomy, structure and life cycle of different plants. They will do this through observation of diagrams and drawings of the teacher

GEOGRAPHY

By learning about plants' environments and needs, children will come to understand different geographical environments. We will spend time looking at plants from a wide range of biospheres, as well as discussing the local environment of each learner.

LANGUAGE ARTS

The children's bookwork and activities will include teacher-guided writing. The teacher will write a sentence or two, or add labels, that will complement what they have drawn.

CREATIVE ARTS

Waldorf Education integrates the arts into core academics and art plays a central role in the learning experience of the child.

We do not use worksheets in the classroom and children are encouraged to have a dedicated lesson book where they can draw and write all their work. An example of the kind of work they will do is in the class description image.

What the children finish with is a beautiful and creative textbook that they made and a deeper understanding of what they have learned.
