Students will learn the following art/drawing fundamentals: ✅ How to create a test grid for practices and future studies. ✅ Utilizing basic shapes to create a more complex form. ✅ Utilizing 19 different watercolor techniques. ✅ How to apply said techniques to multiple projects. ✅ A wide range of understanding and exposure to different ways to approach an art project. ✅ The confidence to continue watercoloring on their own after the class has been completed.
Mrs. V is a professional artist and an experienced art educator of over 18 years. During her studies at university, Mrs. V focused on watercolor, drawing as well as other mediums. After graduation, Mrs. V continued to use watercolor for personal practice. Mrs. V has been teaching watercolor specifically for over ten years.
Homework Offered
Homework will be optional and highly beneficial. Homework outside of the classroom typically takes under an hour to complete.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

💠 Watercolors 💠 Watercolor brushes 💠 Watercolor paper 💠 Cup (for water) 💠 Towels/rags (excess water/accidental spillage) 💠 Pencil 💠 Pencil sharpener 💠 Eraser (vinyl recommended) 💠 Fine-tip permanent pen (for labeling purposes. Micron and Sharpie recommended. No bic or paper-mate pens) 💠 Circle template (or a compass) 💠 Rubbing alcohol (use a separate clean brush for this and have a small container for the rubbing alcohol to be in) 💠 Sea salt 💠 Pepper (freshly cracked pepper is best) 💠 Used coffee grounds 💠 Plastic wrap (Saran Wrap) 💠 Paper towels 💠 Natural sponge 💠 Masking tape (please use the blue painters tape. The white artist tape and kids tape doesn't do well with watercolors and it will go under the artist tape instead of making a barrier. If you don't have masking tape, have you child draw the grid instead).
Students will be painting throughout this class. Please set up an area where your child can use the computer while working with paint. Students will be encouraged to work on an angled surface. Please prop their paper/sketchbook so it can be at an angle. They need to be able to work on both a flat surface and an angled surface. You can attach the watercolor paper with tape to a board and prop it or use a book to prop against. This is highly recommended as we will use gravity to manipulate the paint.
