Join us on our class adventure as we learn about Bossy r ( r controlled vowels) Part 1 We begin our lesson by working on phonemic awareness, sound/letter relationships, blending sounds to read words and identifying vowels. Part 2 The student is then introduced to a new concept Bossy r; er, ir and ur, brainstorming words that contain bossy r, watching a brief video and playing games. Part 3 The student then identifies bossy r words in a decodable text, working on fluency and comprehension. We will read a story together strengthening our understanding of words with Bossy r. Part 3 Using the new concept we have learned, we complete a spelling and dictation activity, this allows me to assess the student to see if they have mastered and understood the concept of r controlled vowels.
