Class size max is only 4-5 learners to allow for more individualized attention. Each class will introduce skills & strategies to increase comprehension as well as improve reading fluency as needed. Topics do NOT need to be taken in order.

  • The goal of each of these classes is to help students learn strategies to help them more accurately comprehend a range of reading passages.
Over the years I have loved helping children and teens from 2 years old to 19 improve their speech, language, auditory, phonics, reading and brain fitness skills and much more. I meet my students where they are at their level. As I teach, I adjust to help reluctant learners as well as learners who may need or want more challenge. I have decades of experience teaching each of these types of learners within the same class. I try to make my classes engaging and fun. I have a wide range of experience that includes teaching those on the autism spectrum, learning disabled students, add/adhd and many more areas of concern, as well as, experience teaching regular and gifted learners. I have found that patient encouragement in a structured and energetic yet relaxed classroom environment helps learners brains focus to receive information better and helps them become detail oriented.

Details: The teacher will screen share the reading passage and helpful hints/strategies during class then post copies of them and optional practice questions as attachments in the classroom asap after class.

Details: Learner progress in each individual class is informally assessed based on the learners participation and answers to questions using strategies learned.

Details: This is not a graded class. However monthly, quarterly and/or semester grades can be provided with parent/guardian written request. Please message me asap after you register your learner that a grade will be needed and choose the frequency previously listed. **IMPORTANT: For those requesting grades, your learner will be required to complete and return the weekly worksheet that will be posted asap in the classroom each week after class. For learners not requesting a grade, returning the weekly worksheet for feedback only is optional. Please let me know if you have questions. Thank you.
I support all learners from gifted to those needing additional support (ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, ASD, etc). I provide immediate feedback which includes tips to help learners succeed. I require all of my learners to be supportive of one another. 
The class material will be screen shared in class. The passage read during class as well as strategies learned and a practice page will be posted in the classroom after class.  
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
