Description
Class Experience
Come and read great books with us! We will meet twice per week and work our way through some of the most beloved, most engaging, and most imaginative works of children's literature. In each meeting I will encourage every student to think carefully about what we read and share their thoughts about it in a round-table discussion. We'll laugh, enjoy great stories, and grow together as we read and explore! Upcoming Classes: 10/4: "The Phantom Tollbooth" Chapters 1-5 10/6: "The Phantom Tollbooth"...
This class is taught in English.

I have taught and written on literature and Story for nearly fifteen years now and have studied extensively into the nature of Story, Storytelling, and have read, retold, and discussed countless stories from around the world with students from 3-18 years old. My formal experience comes from teaching in the Academy where I served as Master Teacher of Literature for Middle and High School, Network Coach for Literature Instruction for a network of over 1000 teachers, Head of Curriculum, and Headmaster.
We will have a good amount of reading outside of class, about about 10 pages per day. If you homeschool, keep in mind that this can replace your child's literature reading and may even apply to homeschool hours depending on your State's requirements.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 4+ hours per week outside of class.
We will read mostly classic books and all of our books are intended for children of this age range.
You will need a copy of whatever book we are currently reading. We will begin with "The Phantom Tollbooth". Here is the Amazon link for that: https://www.amazon.com/Phantom-Tollbooth-Norton-Juster/dp/0394820371
