Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 1
In this class, we will enjoy a read aloud (the book will vary to meet the needs of repeat students so please message me if you want to know the book for a certain class time). Students will engage in a fun, interactive read-aloud experience and participate in a guided drawing lesson of a character from the book. This will be an interactive class where we will enjoy a book together and engage in a directed drawing activity that will also allow for free expression. Through the read aloud, students will be encouraged to use their reading comprehension skills in fun ways. I plan to offer a series of these classes this fall featuring many great characters.

*Children are welcome to enroll in this class as many times as they would like. When I notice a student has re-enrolled, I will make sure the book is different than the book for the last class they attended. Please let me know if your child has any special requests for a book or character and I will do my best to accommodate.

Please note: Hearing the books read aloud and joining in the reading if students desire is a bonus but not considered the paid for portion of the class. The books I will share are readily available online in different formats and hearing the books in class is a free bonus of attending class. The instruction / practice in reading fluency, discussing details in the illustrators work , and guided drawing time is considered the instructional content of the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Families,
My name is Danielle Day. I have a passion for inspiring young learners! I have a degree in Elementary Education. I have taught in both homeschool and public elementary school settings over the the last 18 years. I have also taught ESL online. Aside from teaching, I have coached basketball and a Building Brick League Team. I think learning should be authentic, engaging, and fun! My husband and I have 3 sons. As a family, we enjoy playing games, reading, riding our bikes, building with building bricks, and exploring nature.

- If you do not see dates listed for a class, that does not mean that I'm no long teaching the class or that it isn't awesome. It just means that right now, I have more class ideas than available hours in the day. I try to balance opening a variety of classes and leaving myself some time to be able to accommodate requested classes. Please never hesitate to send me a message requesting that I open more sessions of a class!

I hope to meet your learner(s) in class soon!
Have a great day,
Mrs. Day
