Class Experience

In this ongoing STEM class, students will listen to an interactive read-aloud and then build a brick challenge that relates to the story. During the read-aloud, we will stop to work on comprehension skills. Students will have the opportunity to practice skills such as visualizing, retelling, main idea & details, sequencing, determining author's purpose, critiquing, and more. After the story, students will have time to socialize with friends while building a brick creation using Legos, Duplos, or other brick blocks to go with the challenge. This is not a step-by-step building class. This class encourages children to create their own designs based on sample pictures of brick designs. At the end of class, students will have a show and tell time to show off their creation. This is a great class for building vocabulary and would be a good fit for young children and ESL learners.
