Bookmaking ART CAMP (2 Days): Make No-Sew Books From Just 1 Piece of Paper!
Class experience
(FYI - this is an expanded version of my single-session class - you can check out feedback for that here: https://outschool.com/classes/make-your-own-book-choice-1-what-can-i-make-with-just-one-piece-of-paper-20ijYg2o#usvmadas0y ) What's the best thing about making a book? Deciding how to fill it! Learning to make your own books means you'll always have plenty of places to put your own stories, poems, artwork, mementoes and photos. Join me for a series of fun hour-long workshops to learn...
I've been making books since I was a child, and teaching kids to make books for more than 20 years. I pride myself on offering clear instruction and tricks to help kids not just make these books with me online, but make them on their own later on!
MATERIALS LIST: (Those with an *asterisk* in front, you must have available for class. Others are optional) -PAPER: *8.5"x11" (copy/printer paper) or 9"x12" or A4 (most standard construction paper). It can be the same or different colors; but having more than one color available provides more visual interest. (A NOTE ON CONSTRUCTION PAPER: cheaper construction paper with a very fibrous feel tends to fold very poorly and create less-than-satisfying results. I recommend using Tru-Ray construction paper, by Pacon, but you can of course try with whatever you have.) *OPTIONAL but nice to have: 12"x18" construction paper (or 11"x17" copy paper) or A3 paper *-SCISSORS *-SOMETHING TO FOLD WITH: popsicle/craft stick OR ruler OR non-serrated smooth a butter knife *-RUBBER BANDS, at least 3 or 4, all the same size (thin, not too long) *-GLUE STICK *-SCRAP PAPER to protect the table while using the glue stick! *-PENCIL *-COLORED PENCILS AND/OR MARKERS to write and draw OPTIONAL MATERIALS LIST for decoration: -Some colored/decorative paper scraps - optional, but can make decorating more fun. -Washi decorative tape -Stickers or other embellishments
We'll be using scissors in this class. Please ensure your kids are able to use them safely before signing them up for this class.
Calling all art explorers! The act of creation shouldn't be limited to professional artists. Artistic expression is for EVERYONE - something you should feel entitled to do, without judgment, your whole life long. Unfortunately, many of us have...
