During each session, the teacher will read aloud the first 1-2 chapters of an award-winning or award-nominated book that is appropriate for ages 9-12. Visuals of the book pages will be shared with students, in case they prefer to follow along while listening. Students will receive direct instruction and modeling as they learn to take written notes to record: the title and author of each book, interesting or unknown vocabulary, questions/predictions, and a rating of their desire to read more...
Students will listen to, respond to, reflect on, and engage in discussions regarding high-quality, age-appropriate literature.
