Description
Class Experience
Students will find a social connection through literature. Students will read and connect to a variety of literature types.
I have taught gifted and talented students at this age level for 2 decades. I am a strong believer in the right book at the right time and books as social connection. I enjoy children's and young adult literature and love interacting with kids around a good book!
Students will need to have read the book under discussion before coming to class. We will discuss each book in its entirety rather than chapter by chapter.
Students will need the book under discussion each week.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Books will be limited to those appropriate for this age group. If a book contains a sensitive subject I will alert you more than a week in advance so that you can make a decision about including your child in that discussion.
Students will be responsible for a copy of each book, either through purchase or library check out.
