Join us for a book journey, as we read the entire Spiderwick Chronicles book series by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, and then compare the series to the film of the same name!  We will be reading and discussing all 5 books, and then watching the film, which at the moment is available for rent on Amazon.

Each week, we will cover a different book, and discuss plot, story elements, character growth, vocabulary, and what we loved and didn’t love about the story.  Each class, we will have fun activities to accompany the discussion.  On the 6th week, we will compare the plot, characters, and other story elements of the books we have just read with the film version.

You will need to come to class each week with book assignment read and the book in-hand, prepared to discuss.  While these books can be checked out at most libraries, I also encourage you to buy used books.  You can get them for very good prices on places like Ebay, Amazon, and Abebooks.  You can also check them out digitally from the library (try Libby!) and read them on a tablet.
