Description
Class Experience
This book will teach themes and symbols through a story about a girl who is different from others, and how she is treated at a new school. This book will visit topics such as bullying and friendships. Through this book, I will teach children how to read between the lines and connect to a story. The first fifteen minutes of class will go over what learners read for homework. I will ask questions and spark a conversation with learners. We will work on a graphic organizer called squares together...
Learners will be able to read between the lines, examine themes and symbols in a story, and make connections.
Students will be required to read about 20 pages and answer a discussion question each class.
Students will need to purchase a copy of Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will be assessed through discussion questions and an end of the class writing prompt.
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
