Because of Winn-Dixie is an award-winning book that was also made it to a movie! Your child can relate to it and compare the book version and movie version at the end of this class. All classes are structured to allow learners to hear each others thoughts and opinions. It is interesting to see how the learners' experiences in life relate to the characters' in the book. Students will learn to connect with characters and each other. Students will also be able to identify lessons learned in the story.
Students will read approximately 20 pages each class, answer a discussion question, and fill out a graphic organizer.
Students will need to purchase the book Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students are assessed informally through discussions and discussion questions in the classroom.
