I am offering "Book & Cook Club: Nate the Great Mini Halloween Mystery + Pumpkin Cookies Party!" so that students can gather together in a nurturing environment to engage with an interesting text and diverse people. My expertise in reading and questioning strategies makes me an excellent leader for this class. My love of cooking has been in development since I was a child; I have been studying the art of cooking on a daily basis since then.
Required: -For our Day 2 class: with adult, prep all measured pumpkin cookie ingredients & materials before class session (page 2 in the attached class file); recommendation: have adult present for pumpkin cookie making and baking
1 file available upon enrollmentDay 2: Pumpkin cookie making supplies and ingredients will need to be purchased and prepped prior to the Day 2 class session. Feel free to divide or multiply the recipe to match the amount of pumpkin cookies you plan to make. The recipe below yields 12 cookies. Supplies and ingredients are listed in the attached class file, as well as below: Required Ingredients: -2 ½ cups rolled oats -1 cup pumpkin puree -3 Tablespoons maple syrup Required Supplies: -large spoon -large mixing bowl -spoons -baking sheet -parchment paper -oven mitts/potholders -oven Optional Ingredients: -additions such as chocolate chips, pumpkin pie spice, raisins, or anything else you like Recipe instructions to be shared during Day 2 class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
If students need technological assistance during class, please provide as necessary. This book contains light mysterious themes. Please note that adult guidance is recommend for making pumpkin cookies on Day 2. Please also be advised of potential hazards, including the use of an oven and other tools needed while cooking. Please refer to the ingredients on the Supply List or attached class file for possible allergens such as nuts, wheat, dairy, eggs, or soy.
