Class Experience
In this multi-day class, we will read Bridge to Terabithia together. During our reading time, we will focus on reading comprehension skills such as the difference between fact and opinion, summarizing, main idea and details, sequencing, character traits. Reading comprehension will be a major focus of this class by me asking questions to ensure the students are engaged, focused, and retaining what we are readings. The students will learn a better knowledge of vital reading comprehension skills that is necessary for reading to learn new things as well as to be successful with understanding what you are reading.
I have been in the classroom setting for four years teaching grade 2nd-5th teaching all subjects consisting of: math, reading, history, science, spelling, and grammar. I also have masters course work in elementary education.
The students will be required to read about 20-25 pages a week.
Your student will need a copy of Bridge to Terabithia, a writing utensil, a highlighter, and a notebook to keep a few notes in during each class.
I will assess their knowledge with informal assessments throughout class (asking questions while we read and note taking). I will also update you after each session or weekly oh how your student is doing.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
