Description
Class Experience
Learners will discuss themes, historical significance of World War II events, and development of a novel (in characters, setting, and plot).
I have led book club groups as a teacher in a public school classroom for several years. I have also taken graduate level classes about literacy at middle and high school levels. We will approach this difficult subject matter with care and grace, being sure to discuss the book in light of the historical impact of these events.
Before class weeks 2, 3, and 4, read the required reading and come to class prepared to contribute to the discussion.

There is no assessment for this course.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This is a World War II novel and contains heavy topics and dark themes. This is a young adult novel and is written for a teenage audience. If you would like to read a review by a librarian, I recommend this one: https://www.readerpants.net/2021/01/this-light-between-us-a-librarians-perspective.html .
