In this five week class, learners will participate in meaningful discussions as we read Neal Shusterman's The Toll. Book clubs are an excellent way to engage reluctant readers or help enthusiastic readers dig a little deeper. Students will need their own copy of the text to complete assigned readings before attending class. This is an adventure story with many descriptions of deaths. It is full of suspense and the themes of the meaning of life/death are mature.
