In this five-week class, learners will participate in meaningful discussions as we read J. R. Tolkien's adventure. Book clubs are an excellent way to engage reluctant readers or help enthusiastic readers dig a little deeper. Week 1Lesson 1Book 1 Chapters 1-3Discussion will focus on setting.Week 2Lesson 2Book 1 Chapters 4-7Discussion will focus on character development.Week 3Lesson 3Book 1 Chapter 8- Book 2 Chapter 1Discussion will focus on theme.Week 4Lesson 4Book 2 Chapters 2-5Discussion will focus on plot and predictions.Week 5Lesson 5Book 2 Chapters 6-9Discussion will focus on themes developed throughout the series: corruption, faithfulness, and fate.
- Students will sharpen their literacy skills and foster their love of reading! We will discuss and deepen student understanding of literary elements such as plot, character development, and theme.
