Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
If you love science, comics, and reading, join us for a fact-packed book club! Before class, students will read one book per week from the Science Comics series.

*This series is suggested for ages 9-13, but feel free to use your own judgment for your child.

*Please note, in order to meet copyright law, students must have their own copy of the book to participate in this class.

As a group, we will discuss the reading and the science behind it; highlighting important facts to help readers delve further into each topic. This class is designed to strengthen reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.

At the beginning of class, we may use “popcorn reading” to read the book’s preface together. We will also go over any difficult vocabulary or passages.

Next, we will discuss what was learned from each book. Discussion questions and topics will be posted for the upcoming week to guide students as they read.

Finally, students are encouraged to share their favorite fact from the book. They can also share anything that may have surprised them.

Since we will be reading one book per week, students can sign up for any weeks they choose.

🎉 If there is no class due to a holiday, we will cover the missed book in the next class meeting.
