Class Experience

In this beginning book club, students will read Ramona's World by Beverly Cleary. Before each meeting, they will read 2-3 chapters from Ramona's World. In class meetings, they will be guided in discussion about the chapters. They'll answer factual questions about the events of the book as well as opinion questions that will help them learn how to express their thoughts and ideas. For lessons two through four, students will complete short assignments that will help them dive deeper into the...

Students will learn how to think about what they are reading through in-class discussions. They will learn how to discuss books with other people and how to be kind when they disagree.

Students will be assigned 2-3 chapters of reading per week, including three chapters before the first class meeting. They will also be given short assignments related to the book to complete before the second and third meetings. They will present these assignments in class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

Parents should be prepared to guide students in the completion of their assignments. Some students may require assistance in finishing their weekly reading assignments.
