US Grade 2 - 5
In true Book Club fashion, we will read the assigned chapter(s) beforehand, and come to class ready to discuss, to share our thoughts and reflections, and to learn from the perspectives of others. Students will learn from each other, as well as learn how to actively listen to, interact with, and politely disagree with others. They will learn to express their opinions, and learn to articulate them well. In essence, they will learn a form of public speaking and debate, although it will be a more subtle approach. And above all, students will have the opportunity to dive into and revel in the beauty of a great body of literature. Perhaps it will awaken and inspire a desire to write their own stories. We’ll start with Book 1, which is The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe in order of publication! There are seventeen chapters. We will meet once a week for nine weeks, and we will discuss two chapters per class! Please read chapters 1 & 2 before our first class!
