Description
Class Experience
I am an elementary library, art, and music teacher. Before that, I was the producing artistic director of a youth theater, doing musicals with kids and teens for the past 20 years (Matilda is also a Broadway Musical). I am also a freelance teaching artist throughout the NYC and NJ area teaching all ages from kindergarten through graduate students in the arts, writing, history, and literature. In 2018, I received my doctorate in Literary Studies with a musical theater scholarly dissertation. Plus... I am a big Disney fan, but being a Disney lover is not required!
There is no assignment before the first class. Please read the following for the subsequent classes: Before meeting 2: read chapter 1 to the end of chapter 7 Before meeting 3: read chapter 8 to the end of chapter 12 Before meeting 4: read chapter 13 to the end of chapter 20 Before meeting 5: read chapter 21 to the end of chapter 27 Before meeting 6: read chapter 28 to the end!
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Parents need to know that The Kingdom Keepers is a great adventure for Disney fans, but may frighten younger children with its portrayal of Disney characters gone bad. Pirates leave the Pirates of the Caribbean ride to chase the good guys, and the dolls from It's a Small World turn into evil biting menaces eerily singing their famous song. For some, this adventure novel -- and the many series installments that follow (a total of seven are planned) -- may be an enticement to visit Disney World.
We will be reading "Kingdom Keepers- Disney After Dark" by Ridley Pearson. Any version will do!
