Judy Moody is about a spunky third grader’s funny adventures and big moods. She has 2 best friends, Rocky and Frank, and a little Brother, Stink - who has a book series too! Judy Moody is a fun 14-book series that readers love, and we'll be diving into book #1. We will use this books as a vehicle for practicing a variety of skills including summarizing, predicting, using context clues, and analyzing the main character. Students will strengthen reading comprehension and analysis skills including predicting, questioning, and making connections. Students will learn new vocabulary words and practice using context clues to identify unknown words. Students will discuss plot and story elements. Students will practice communication, cooperation, and leadership skills. Students will have an enjoyable reading experience.
Learners will read 1/4 of a Judy Moody book (40-50 pages) each week and write down 1-3 brief conversation starters, such as something they wondered while reading or an interesting new vocabulary word they discovered.
