Grades Offered
Students will need a copy of the book The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien. The assigned chapters must be read or listened to BEFORE class. Students can use their own books, library books, ebook, or even listen to the audio book.
The Lord of the Rings is an adventure series with epic battles, yes, but inner turmoil too. Overwhelming forces of good and evil, but also temptation and greed within oneself; potent sorcery, but perhaps more so the magical spells of friendship and loyalty and devotion. This is an epic tale of good versus evil, but it's also a tale about the strong bonds of friendship, and the human instinct to do the right thing.

This book is best suited to students in their teen or tween years. Ms. Carol always advises parents to pre-screen their student’s reading selections, even if you just listen to the audiobook!
