Class Experience
Education: BA in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Communication and minors in Philosophy and Theology from the University of St. Thomas Experience: More than 7 years as a homeschool parent, more than 30 years of being an avid reader, 3 years of writing fiction while meeting with published authors to discuss different aspects of writing and books, 6 previous high school-level classes taught on this platform in addition to several classes taught on the aspects of writing on Outschool as well as at local libraries for more than 2 years, I am also a Municipal Liaison for the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) program
Week 1: "The Wishing Well," "The Wonderful Mother," "Jack and Jill and the Beanstalk" (pages 3-76) Week 2: "The Giant Killer," "Where You'll Never Cry No More," "The Gray Valley" (pages 77-156) Week 3: "Goblin Market," "Death or the Lady," "The Descent," "Eidechse von Feuer, der Menschenfleischfressende" (pages 157 - 246) Week 4: "The Others," "Face to Face" (pages 247 - 315)
Students will need a copy of In a Glass Grimmly by Adam Gidwitz.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
As stated above: this is NOT like the sweet little fairy tales many young children are used to. These tales have Grimm twists and turns. However, we discuss the different situations and how they are used to add to the story.
