Mona the mouse has finally found a place to call home, the cozy Heartwood Hotel, where she works as a maid and sleeps snuggled up in a room with her best friend. Following the festive St. Slumber celebration, most of the guests have settled in to hibernate, and the staff is looking forward to a relaxing winter. But disruptions abound, from a difficult duchess to a mysterious midnight snacker. As the snow stacks higher, Mona will have to gather friends both old and new to keep the peace, finding help in some of the most unexpected places. This class is designed to be fully interactive and students are expected to be fully engaged. There is grace for the shy or introverted, of course, but if interacting with teacher and peers is uncomfortable for your student, this class is not a good fit for them.

Carol Burns is an experienced classroom teacher with 37 years of experience teaching and working with children in a variety of settings including public school, charter school, children’s church, Awana and youth group leading, camp program directing, outdoor education, foster parenting, and teaching online. Carol holds a B.S., an M.A., and a PhD in Pedagogy and Alternative Education. 

In addition to teaching Outschool, Carol is a homeschool graduate, and a homeschooling mama of one adopted daughter. Together they learn voraciously, read exponentially, and set out on quests of the most delightful sorts, pursuing whatever intrigues them at the moment, be it natural, scientific, historical, literary, artistic, musical, or multi cultural.
