In this course, students will have a chance to explore the world that Sir Terry Pratchett has created as we read through his 5 Tiffany Aching novels over 10 weeks.

Terry Pratchett was a wizard of the Fantasy genre. He created an unparalleled world of magic, witches, police officers, a giant turtle and adventures galore. **Feel Free to message us to join any of the already started classes and we can make that happen. This is a 11 week Multi-Day Course covering 5 novels of the Discworld Series. These five novels are about the young witch Tiffany Aching who solves mysteries, saves princes all while becoming a witch. We will read 1 novel over 2 weeks...
Students will be able to discuss what they've read and pose interesting conversation sparking questions! There will be a final project in which learners can show their understanding of the novels and share this with the class. *This course directly relates to B.C. Curricular Competencies for ELA Grades 4-12 under Comprehend and connect (reading, listening, viewing) Create and communicate (writing, speaking, representing).
Yvonne is an interdisciplinary artist. With a BMus from McGill, and most of her BEd in High School English Education before she was tempted away into a music career, she has also been a technical writer, computer technician, trainer, tutor, homeschooling mum and cook. She homeschools a ND learner and believes strongly in child-led and project based learning.
Homework Offered
Students will read the novel as prescribed in the reading list. There will be supplemental materials if students wish to extend their learning.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class

Learners will need to find a copy of each novel as listed in the class description.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parents should be aware that the recommended reading age increases to 12 and up as the series continues due to the weightier topics addressed; however, the later books are likely accessible to younger readers with parent guidance.
We will be reading Sir Terry Pratchett's novels as listed in the class description. These will need to be sourced and will not be supplied in class.
