Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Come tour the world through great books! Join me and other classmates from all over the planet as we read exciting stories about great adventures and the people who experienced them.

In this series, we’ll read one book together over the course of 3 weeks, giving you time to read and dive into the story. Included in our 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒘𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒚-𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒔 book club will be:

-Weekly live book discussion
-An engaging presentation all about the author
-Intriguing background information highlighting locations, characters, and historical context
-Appropriate video tie-ins
-In-class dramatic readings
-Vocabulary review
-Optional creative hands-on activities such as flip books, posters, memes, and other fun projects

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒘𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒚-𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒔 is a Newbery Award winner. It tells the story of a retired professor who sets out to fly across the Pacific Ocean in a hot air balloon. Along the way, Professor Sherman experiences both harrowing and exciting adventures, and we get to come along!

You can choose to read or listen to an audio version of the book. We’ll split each book into two sections and read one section per week. For 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒘𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒚-𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒔, our schedule will look like this:

Session/Week One: Come to class and enjoy the introduction to 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒘𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒚-𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒔
Session/Week Two: Read Chapters 1-5
Session/Week Three: Read Chapters 6-10

You can acquire whichever edition of 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒘𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒚-𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒔 that works for you. Beg, borrow, or buy!

I will also provide a very easy-to-acquire list of supplies for small projects each week. You should have everything on hand—I'm a mom, too, and I know how difficult it can be to find obscure supplies, so I choose projects that are easy for you to put together.
