Lesson 1
No required reading before our first class
We will go over how to keep a vocabulary journal. We will learn a little more about the author, Chris Grabenstein. We will draw a book cover for our book based on the summary read in class about the book. We will talk about story elements as well. We will talk about the mystery genre.
Lesson 2
We will read chapters 1 - 10
We will go over our vocabulary journals. We will answer our study questions. We will talk about the characters in the story and talk about who the protagonist/s are creating an adjective character wheel. We will play a game using the title of our book.
 Week 2
Lesson 3
We will read chapters 11 - 18
We will go over our vocabulary journals. We will answer our study questions. We will talk about birdwatching and play a matching game. 
Lesson 4
We will read chapters 19 - 24
We will go over our vocabulary journals. We will answer our study questions. We will talk about Robert Goddard. We will design and decorate our own paper airplane.
 Week 3
Lesson 5
We will read chapters 25 - 31
We will go over our vocabulary journals. We will answer our study questions. We will be talking about the ancient library in Alexandria, Egypt. We will talk about We will be playing hangman.
Lesson 6
We will read chapters 32 - 3
We will go over our vocabulary journals. We will answer our study questions. We will talk about geocaching. What is it? How to get started. We will solve rebus puzzles.
 Week 4
Lesson 7
We will read chapters 40 - 46
We will go over our vocabulary journals. We will answer our study questions. We will talk about banned books. What is in a book that causes it to be banned? Should we ban books?  Who should decide what books are banned? 
Lesson 8
We will read chapters 47 - Epilogue
We will go over our vocabulary journals. We will answer our study questions. We will talk about the resolution of the book. We will talk about the themes and symbols of the book. We will be playing Lemoncello's Library Olympics Jeopardy.
