This 25-minute class will be packed full of fun sounds, counting, and painting with toy cars. The teacher will begin by sharing the book Race Car Count by Rebecca Kai Dotlich with the learners. Then the race will begin as the learners will be encouraged to "drive" through the book, making all the fun car sounds as we count the cars on each page. We will also work on number recognition 1-10. The best part of this class, the art project. Each learner will need several sheets of white construction paper or cardstock, a variety of small toy vehicles, and different colors of paint on a paper plate. We will roll the vehicles in the paint and then go racing on our white paper creating a cool track painting. Track painting is my grandson's favorite art activity. Parents, be sure your child has on play clothes or a paint smock that is okay to get paint on. Things will get messy in this class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to rote count 1-10, count objects one to one, recognize numbers 1-10, and imitate car sounds. The students will pretend to be race car drivers as they track paint.Other Details

Hello friends! My name is Teacher Tammy. I am a retired kindergarten teacher. I was a classroom teacher for 26 years. I have a master's degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and I was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2014. I am also certified in foundational and advance TESOL. For the past 3 years, I have been teaching ESL online along with keeping my 2 precious grandchildren.
I am so excited about teaching for Outschool. I am already developing awesome classes centered around dinosaurs, sea turtles, and fire safety just to name a few. Both of my sons are firemen and will be helping me with those fire safety classes. How cool will it be to meet real firemen! I love incorporating movement, basic sign language, music, popular children's books, oral language, math, and science into all of my classes.
I believe that learning should be fun and that all children have the ability to learn when engaged in developmentally appropriate activities centered around their interest.
One of my favorite hobbies is teaching line dance. I think older students would love a line dance lesson set to popular Kidz Bop hits. I also love planting flowers and relaxing on the beach. I live very close to the ocean so it will be fun to visit and learn about the sea turtle nest with my students as well.
