Class Experience
Body Language: How to Make a Positive First Impression is an introductory experience for teen communicators to work on nonverbal communication skills. The way we sit, the tone of voice, the firmness of a handshake, and the length of eye contact are all full of meaning. We will decode nonverbal language and increase our awareness of how it makes a first and lasting impression. Young communicators will learn how to create positive first impressions for meeting new people, first job...
Students will become aware of verbal and nonverbal communication and learn how to make a positive first impression in any situation.
Body Language: How To Make a Great First Impression is a life skills workshop based on communication studies and research. T.J. Reck has a Bachelor of Science in Education in Speech and Theatre and a Master of Arts in Communication. She has over eight years of experience teaching public school high school communication courses.
There is no outside work required for this class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will have the opportunity to reflect and self-assess their own nonverbal communication.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
