Class Experience
US Grade 6 - 9
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Boarwarts Academy for Witches and Wizards. Please find and enclosed a list of all necessary equipment. Week 1: When you arrive you will be sorted (by a fun quiz) into one of four dormitories. Each dormitory has its own colors and animal. You will then post in the Outschool classroom which dormitory you were sorted into (screenshot is preferred) so you can find classmates that are in the same dormitory. You will work together to earn points for your dorm. At the end of the month, the dorm that has the most points will win the Boarwarts Award of Honor. After being sorted into your dorm, you will then make your own magic wand (by video demonstration). Points will be awarded for pictures of your wand uploaded into the classroom. Students are also encouraged to comment on each other's wands (Examples: I like the shape you went with! How did you create that texture? I love the glitter you added) Week 2: Next up will be potions class where I will walk you through making a special potion (by video demonstration). Points will be given for pictures of successful potions. There will also be a Kahoot on fantastic creatures. Week 3: After all of your hard work, we will relax by making Butterscotch Brew (by video demonstration) This tasty drink is loved by Boarwarts students. Points will be awarded for posting selfies sipping on your drink. There will also be a Madlib story of what happened in the Transfiguration class. Week 4: Now that you have rested and refueled- it is time to put all you have learned to the test. Students will enter into an escape room to prove their magic (and logic) skills. If you get stuck ask other learners for a hint, or I will be happy to help. Points will be given for photos of the completed escape room. On the final day, the dorm with the most points will be given the Boarwarts Award of Honor. Interactivity and the Boardwarts Award of Honor: To ensure this class stays interactive learners will be required to upload a picture of their completed project each week. This will earn their dorm 20 points. Students are also strongly encouraged to post comments on other student's projects, ask questions, and tell their favorite parts of projects. Each comment will also earn their dorm an additional 5 points. In the first 3 weeks, I will upload a video explaining how to do the craft/project. In the final week, I will provide an interactive digital escape room. There will be plenty of other fun surprises along the way during your stay at Boarwarts, so come join me for 4 weeks of magical fun. I will post a video, activity, or question 5 days a week. Why FLEX? The ability to pause and rewind is like having a magic necklace that can turn back time. Students can manage the pace of the class themselves and customize it to fit their needs. As a working mom, I understand how hectic and busy life can get. This class is available whenever you are. Forgot to grab that ingredient at the store that is needed? Totally cool, just come back later and the class will be there waiting for you. Flexibility is a blessing for busy lives.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from University of North Texas
Hello!
I taught art in traditional public schools for 6 years in Texas and started teaching on Outschool in 2021.
I would say my specialty here on outschool is escape rooms.
I love teaching my passions and believe in teaching the whole child. That is why I love throwing in other tidbits of knowledge while working on a project. It also means if you signed up for an escape room with me, it might be under the category of "math" but I can guarantee you will be challenged at a lot more than just math. I like to challenge students to think outside of the box and come up with unique solutions to creative problems.
I also have taught art classes through Michaels Arts and Crafts stores. My favorite moment was when a young lady told me they had a closer store to them, but they drove further to me because, with me, she "actually learned stuff".
Fun and Personal: I love to create and have fun. In my free time, I love to play both board and video games. I am a huge Disney nerd, and represent the Hufflepuff house with pride. I have a sweet seven-year-old daughter and three cats at home.
Currently my personal life is jam packed so I am currently only offering self paced classes.
