US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
In this class we will practice social talk and turn taking in conversations. For young children it is important to provide them chances were they are able to talk about a subject that is of interest to them. Students will be able to converse with one and other about the children's cartoon show Bluey. I will be providing direct instruction to students about how we take turns and wait until other people are done speaking before we begin speaking. While some times during this practice I will have students leading the conversation, other times I will lead it to make sure everyone has a chance to speak to the group if they want to. I will also be providing trivia questions for students which they can answer on their own or practice talking to each other to figure out the answer. Parts of this course will also serve as reading practice for young learners, they will be able to practice reading questions, and I will be providing some basic skills practice for decoding words.
Learning Goals
Students will begin to become more confident speaking to their peers.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Greetings Outschoolers!
I am Teacher Tawny! My class offerings will focus on early education. I have over 15 years of experience teaching in early education and elementary school settings with a focus in preschool and kindergarten. I have a BA in Early Childhood and Family Studies and an MA in Teaching. I have taught as a certificated teacher in Washington State in Kindergarten and First Grade. I am passionate about supporting early learners especially around kindergarten readiness in a developmentally appropriate way. I work to meet each learning where they currently are skill wise and to build from there. My class offerings will include single class preschool introduction sessions, recurring preschool classes, and one on one Kindergarten and First Grade tutoring.
A particular passion of mine is supporting neurodiverse learners. Both of my own children are neurodiverse, and as their mother I have learned so much about how to support our neurodiverse learners in an affirming way in the classroom. I am also open to family requests around special interests.
When not teaching, I enjoy photography and planning my family’s next trip to Legoland! I hope to see you in a class very soon!
