Growing up, I would have given anything for blues piano lessons. I am grateful for the years of traditional piano instruction I personally received, but I would have given anything to jam like the greats. This class is taught in English.
Students will be able to improvise in the right hand using the major blues scale. Students will be able to play a simple left hand pattern.
I have a bachelor's degree in Music Education from SUNY Fredonia, a master’s degree of Kodály in Music Education from Loyola University Maryland, and over a decade experience of Blues/Boogie Woogie improvisation on the piano. I'm incredibly passionate about passing on what I've learned about piano improvisation to students, as I wish I had more access to high quality improvisation instruction when I was younger.
1-2 hours of practice is recommended per week.
Students will need a keyboard or a piano. It is recommended to point the camera at the keys if possible. Optional: The teacher uses the iReal Pro App throughout lessons. Students are welcome to purchase it for use at home, but it is not a requirement for the course. https://www.irealpro.com/ Purchase is available through Google Play(Android), or the App Store (iPhone, iPad, Mac).
