Blooming Cherry Blossoms Painting with Acrylic Gels
Each year I like to celebrate spring by teaching students how to paint cherry blossoms. This painting can easily be created with a variety of color schemes and using the acrylic gel medium to create movement in the blossoms is challenging but the results are rewarding.

Students will have a chance to create in-class with the instructor, who will demonstrate each step, answer questions and offer feedback. We will utilize the class web page were there will be additional resources, a place to post questions between classes, and upload images of your work to share with the rest of class. Before class begins students will have access to pre-instructional content: Materials list with buying guide and information on how to care for the acrylic materials and tools....
At the end of the course, students will have gained the following knowledge: • Proper use and care of acrylic paints and tools • How to draw branches • How to use Acrylic Gel Medium • That they can create a beautiful painting
I have been teaching this lesson for several years and it is a great way for students to gain confidence while being challenged. Acrylic Gels are fun and offer a chance for creativity.
Homework is 80% preparing your work space for the class and 20% warming up. Allow 15-20 minutes before each class to complete the homework.
