Description
Class Experience
Students will review and learn basic letter sounds. Students will learn how to blend short /a/ words with -et, -en, -eb, -ex, and -eg rimes. Students will recognize differences and similarities when comparing rimes in cvc words. Students will apply their blending skills to basic sentences and stories.
I love to teach reading. I have been teaching children to read for over 15 years in school, while tutoring, and homeschooling my own children. Over the years, I have successful helped children with special needs and those of other languages read English.
There is an optional homework page where students can practice focusing on the ending rimes of words and practice their blending skills by sorting cvc words with short /e/ rimes. In addition, I will provide the reading passages we will practice in class. By reading these passages over and over to different people, stuffed animals, or a favorite pet, children will build fluency skills.
I recommend students have either a pencil and notepad to write with or dry erase board and marker during the class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The teacher will orally assess the students throughout the lesson to guide her to provide appropriate instruction at each student's level.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents are encouraged to watch the class to see the techniques that I use to teach, so they can support their children with further practice after class as needed.
