In this one-time class students will blend letters to read and write CVC words and simple sentences.
Class experience
For this one -time class students will need to be familiar with all the letters of the alphabet and their sounds. We will practice these letters in a fun and engaging way before looking at blending them. We will use pictures and objects to help write words and guess the word. All students will also read, listen and write sentences to practice using the words. If time allows we will end the class with a CVC scavenger hunt. Students will practice letter sounds and learn to blend, read and write consonant-vowel-consonant words and we will use these in sentences.
Paper and pencil or whiteboard and marker for the children to write and show their work.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
