1-2 hours per week. Homework usually involves students finishing their projects from class and also brainstorming new ideas to get excited about! Blender is definitely a rabbit hole.Assessment
Successful completion of each system or project is the goal. I also encouragement students to develop their own style as to maximize the enjoyment.Class Experience
This class is about Blender 3D Software basic to advanced concepts. This is a fun class that anyone of any level can take and expand on their knowledge of 3D software/skills. Each week we will have a new video or series of videos explaining the topic area and what our goal is. Typically at the start of each lesson we learn a new tool and then get to brainstorm all the ideas we could use that for. Students are always free to assist each other and share their knowledge to help others build their ideas. Creating a community and open forum is very important to me. Students should feel free to help each other or engage in friendly competition. The students have a lot of room to be creative and work toward their goals every week by learning these tools/systems! -We will conduct a scavenger hunt each class and the students will search for specific icons/symbols in order to help them build their skills up step by step! Students are encouraged to form groups or teams in order to find the answers together! As the instructor I will offer clues to help them unlock the secrets of Blender! . This class is designed for flexible schedules. We may not meet live but YOU will have a much longer amount time with ME to guide you & learn Blender and get better. We can screenshot/record video and share our projects. I can make videos specifically for you and troubleshoot issues that may arise(& FLEX classes like this will have priority over others) Your success is important to me! Each week we cover a new topic which will include (but not limited to) these categories below! -Navigation and shortcuts -Tools and Techniques of modeling in 3D -Animation and Simulation -Texture and Materials -Particles -Liquid, Gas, and Fire -Lighting and Rendering -Character Design -Modeling people, places and things! Each week we will cover a different topic/area with a different project idea/approach. This class style is designed so students can work at their own pace, each session is self contained. However as we progress there is always the option to combine tools/strategies. -(week 1) 3d modeling (creating original models with a variety of tools) -(week 2) animation (moving objects and interaction) -(week 3) simulation and particles (creating sparks, bouncing objects, bursts) -(week 4) physics and gravity (breaking objects down, using physics to crash objects into each other) -(week 5) texture application and mapping (adding in greater visual details) -(week 6) lighting and world settings (how to get the best picture/video) -(week 7) navigation and shortcuts (save time now! get a lot done!) -(week 8) the importance of keyframing and what you can do (animation possibilites) -(week 9) having fun with physics (making little games) -students can also suggest topics for a future class discussion This class will cover a new topic each week and will be structured so that we can accomplish a goal/project in one class session but also have a personal project (encouraged but not required) where we take these tools and come up with something more ambitious. I will demonstrate the tools and show the students the project builds/tools step by step, ensuring each student is successful. Once the students have mastered the tool or concept of the week I will suggest they come up with their own mini project idea to realize before the next class(and they can choose to work together as well!). I will interact with the students via text in CLASSROOM/MESSENGER and in specific cases responding via VIDEO to troubleshoot their issues that arise. It's important to me each student is successful in realizing their interests and developing the needed skills. We will also have segments dedicated to the students discussing concepts and working together to strengthen their own concepts/ideas. These classes may not be live but they do last longer and we get to interact around the clock. Every class or class I teach can be taken by anyone on any knowledge level, I will always make sure everyone understands the concepts and is able to apply them.
