Each week the learner will explore a new recipe where they will be given easy, implementable steps on how to make the smoothie along with some of the "good for you" benefits of using the smoothie ingredients. The goal of this series is to help the learner gain some foundational skills and confidence around preparing some yummy and wholesome smoothies they can be proud to share with family and friends.
As a Transformational Nutrition Coach, I am passionate about sharing easy strategies that help those of all ages live their life with vitality. A bit of a "whole food, organic, crunchy foody", I have spent over 15 years learning how to adapt whole foods into yummy recipes my body craves but my taste buds love. I love taking standard "junk food" and finding "good for you" ingredients that taste just as good as the junk. I love sharing my tasty and "good for you" treats and ideas with young learners. I enjoy supporting them as they learn new life skills and how to incorporate "good for you" foods into their life.
Upon enrolling, the instructor will supply an ingredient list.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please Note: This is a beginner course designed for the 10-15 year old learner. Where there will be instruction on how to use a blender and a knife and cutting board, It is highly recommended that there is adult supervision close by as the learner prepares these smoothies. Learning to food prep, including cutting up fruit and other ingredients as well as blending, is a skill that takes time and practice to develop. When dealing with things that can explode (like a blender without a top on it) or possible cuts when not closely supervised while cutting/chopping food items, it is imperative that the learner feels safe as they try these things out. The instructor can only offer tips and strategies on "what to do" and "what not to do", but the learner will benefit highly from having an adult set of eyes on them for safety so they can fully develop these imperative life skills. Additionally, if there are any food allergies, it is the responsibility of the adult to make the necessary adaptations to the list of ingredients. If you aren't sure, reach out to the instructor. She may have some alternatives to consider, but ultimately, the parent/adult purchasing the ingredients needs to know what their child can/can not tolerate (regarding food allergies/intolerances).
