Class Experience
You are stuck in a Castle in the Middle Ages and just heard that someone with the Plague is in the castle! You do not know where they are, but you do know that there is a secret passage that can get you out without being exposed to this person! The only problem is, the secret passage is full of obstacles and locked doors! You know it will be challenging, but this is the only way out, so you head towards the secret passage entrance! Join me on this adventure back to the Middle Ages for this...
Students will improve their knowledge of the Black Plague and have fun!
I am a certified New York State Teacher. My licenses include "New York State Certified Teacher: Social Studies- Grades 7-12" and "New York State Certified Teacher: Special Education Generalist - Grades 7-12". I have two Bachelors degrees, one in History and one in Secondary Education. I have two minors, one in Medieval Studies and one in English. I have a Masters Degree in Special Education. In addition to these degrees and certifications, I have completed an additional 400 hours of professional development over the past three years. While in college I took a course on the Bubonic Plague and have read many books and articles on this topic. At a local public school, I am currently teaching United States History & Government and AP European History courses. In past years, I have also taught AP World History and Global Studies.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Plagues and death are referenced in this class. It is advised that if students feel uncomfortable with either of these topics that they consider taking a different course.
