There is no denying that Wakanda is the most technologically advanced country on the planet. What makes Wakanda so special is not only its access to Vibranium, but also the incredible mind of its top scientist, Shuri. In this one-time class, students will discuss the incredible achievements of the fictional character Shuri, as well as be introduced to some other amazing Women of Color in the STEM fields. They will learn about Katherine Johnson, Dr. Ellen Ochoa and Mary G. Ross among many others. Students will also discuss the current lack of diversity in the STEM fields and the importance of increasing representation. Students will get to play a “Guess Who” game to solidify their understanding of these women’s incredible accomplishments. Cameras must be on for the entirety of the class. All learners must be enrolled students; if two learners are sharing a device, both learners must be enrolled per Outschool policies. SEG does not do last minute transfers or refunds, after the limited cancellation period has expired. Please see Mr. Hayes's bio under the Teacher Expertise tab.
