In this class, we explore one of the most fascinating phenomena in the universe: black holes. We delve into the basics of gravity and general relativity, the anatomy of black holes, and the incredible forces at play. Students will learn about how black holes form, the different types of black holes, and concepts like spaghettification and time dilation. Through clear explanations and real-life examples, learners will gain a deeper understanding of these mysterious cosmic objects and their importance in the universe. In five highly visual lessons, we will explore topics such as: Gravity and General Relativity Density, Mass, and Volume Parts of a Black Hole Types of Black Holes Formation and Life Cycle of Stars Spaghettification Time-dilation Each lesson includes a video lecture and optional extra videos. A vocabulary list, optional homework questions, and quiz and answer keys are provided.
Learning Goals
Understand the basic concepts of gravity and general relativity.
Be able to explain what black holes are and how they form.
