US Grade 6 - 8
Class 1: Introduction to Alvin Ailey and Lester Horton; Introduction to basic Horton movements; Section 1 Choreography for Glory. Class 2: Class will begin with a Horton Technique Warm Up. Review of Alvin Ailey and his contribution to American history. Review and learn new section of choreography for Glory. Class 3: Horton Warm Up, Review of Glory Choreography, and learn section 3. Class 4: Horton Warm Up, Review of Glory Choreography, and invitation to choreograph. Class 5: Horton Warm Up, Practice Glory, Wrap Up.
Learning Goals
Students will learn modern dance principles specific to the Lester Horton Modern Dance Technique.

Learning Needs
This class provides space for students to learn modern dance technique, and also to explore their own creativity.
Parental Guidance
Safety First: Please make sure the space is clear of large objects students may bump into while dancing. Also, please make sure floor is swept so your dancer is not stepping on any potentially harmful objects.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Bachelor's Degree in Dance from Hunter College of City University of New York
I am a certified New York State Dance Educator. I have a Masters in Dance Education from NYU. Additionally, I am trained in ballet, contemporary, and modern dance styles. I have been teaching for over 15 years and very passionate about seeing children grow in dance and choreography.
